Kavango Block Brick (KBB) - Windhoek

Kavango Block Brick (KBB) was founded in 2006 in Windhoek, Namibia, with the aim of exploring alternative construction methods that can reduce the cost of building, especially for low-income groups, while still adhering to international standards. At present, KBB is working with the Namibian Government to create a Namibian Home Warranty and consumer protection program to protect housing consumers from structural flaws and shoddy workmanship. KBB has gained wide social acceptance, being endorsed by professional quantity surveyors and civil engineers, and is seen as a viable solution to tackle the housing crisis in Southern Africa and beyond. KBB's first pilot project was conducted in 2007, when it constructed prototype double and single storey bachelor units at the Habitat Research and Development Centre in Katutura Windhoek Namibia.
